The Grand Experiment ....Multiculturalism

That is how the liberal elites love to describe the policies in which have forced multiculturalism on western society.  It is their grand experiment that has played out in Europe for decades now and is quickly being enacted here in the United States.

But what exactly is "multiculturalism"Dictionary.com defines it as follows; "the preservation of different cultures or cultural identities within a unified society, as a state or nation."  That really does not sound like a bad thing does it?  It sounds like people respecting each others culture and living peaceably together.  But nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is multiculturalism has a nasty legacy of destroying the host country's cultural and societal  identity.

When people are allowed to immigrate to a new country, multiculturalism dictates that they do not have to assimilate into the cultural and societal norms.  Nope, they can come live within a community and not be required to learn the language or accepting of their new host country's socially accepted behaviors.   This all in the name of having a diverse population.   Which is what any liberal elite will espouse is the objective of multicultural policies.

Europe's leaders, after decades of these multicultural policies, are finally realizing that these policies are a failure. That these policies are leading their nations to commit suicide  in the form of killing off the culture in which their identity was formed.  Liberalism's great experiment has taken nation after nation in Europe towards societal collapse.

Dutch Parliamentary Leader Geert Wilders  was the first to speak out against multiculturalism in the Netherlands.  He has tried to let western civilization know that multiculturalism is destroying Europe.  In a recent speech he stated

"The lights are going out all over Europe. All over the continent where our culture flourished and where man created freedom, prosperity and civilization. Everywhere the foundation of the West is under attack.

All over Europe the elites are acting as the protectors of an ideology that has been bent on destroying us since fourteenth centuries. An ideology that has sprung from the desert and that can produce only deserts because it does not give people freedom. The Islamic Mozart, the Islamic Gerard Reve [a Dutch author], the Islamic Bill Gates; they do not exist because without freedom there is no creativity. The ideology of Islam is especially noted for killing and oppression and can only produce societies that are backward and impoverished. Surprisingly, the elites do not want to hear any criticism of this ideology.

My trial is not an isolated incident. Only fools believe it is. All over Europe multicultural elites are waging total war against their populations. Their goal is to continue the strategy of mass-immigration, which will ultimately result in an islamic Europe - a Europe without freedom"

The liberal elites would like all of us to think that Geert is an insane and bigoted man.  This idea has held water within Europe's governments for a time, but now he is being viewed as the first to speak out.  Wilders was banned from the UK in 2008 by British Foreign Secretary because his  presence "would incite hatred".   In 2009 the ban was overturned and Wilders was allowed to travel to the UK.

    Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel  on October 17, 2010 stated in a press conference that multiculturalism was dead in Germany.  Chancellor Merkel went on to say;

"We kidded ourselves for a while that they wouldn't stay, but that's not the reality," she said at a conference of the youth wing of her Christian Democratic Union party at the weekend, referring to the gastarbeiters, or guest workers, who arrived in Germany to fill a labour shortage during the economic boom of the 1960s.  Of course the tendency had been to say, 'let's adopt the multicultural concept and live happily side by side, and be happy to be living with each other'. But this concept has failed, and failed utterly,"

Chancellor Merkel makes it perfectly clear that the influx of guest workers in the 1960's has led to multicultural policies to be instituted, which has utterly failed the German people. Germany now has a large population of individuals that hold no loyalty to the country. This population refuses to learn the language and to assimilate into German culture.

   David Cameron, the Prime Minister of England,  just recently spoke out against multiculturalism on February 5, 2011 at a security conference in Munich.  Prime Minister Cameron went on to say in his speech;

"Europe needs to wake up to what is happening in our own countries.  Of course, that means strengthening, as Angela has said, the security aspects of our response, on tracing plots, on stopping them, on counter-surveillance and intelligence gathering. But this is just part of the answer.  We have got to get to the root of the problem, and we need to be absolutely clear on where the origins of where these terrorist attacks lie.  That is the existence of an ideology, Islamist extremism."

Prime Minister Cameron went on further to state this revelation about his own country.

"In the UK , some young men find it hard to identify with the traditional Islam practiced at home by their parents, whose customs can seem staid when transplanted to modern Western countries.  But these young men also find it hard to identify with Britain too, because we have allowed the weakening of our collective identity.  Under the doctrine of state multiculturalism, we have encouraged different cultures to live separate lives, apart from each other and apart from the mainstream.  We’ve failed to provide a vision of society to which they feel they want to belong.  We’ve even tolerated these segregated communities behaving in ways that run completely counter to our values."

Some of Europe's leaders are starting to understand just how big a failure multiculturalism has been.  The big question, as far as Europe is concerned, is it too late?  Can the European nations save themselves from the grand experiment gone wrong?

The United States continues its dangerous dance with multicultural policies and the current administration seems bent on instituting even more of the multicultural agenda.  It is high time that the American Government look to what is happening in Europe and ask itself,  is this what I want in my country?  The answer to that question is painfully clear ....it should be a resounding, NO!

Guest workers, illegal immigration, and our outrageous numbers of legal immigration need to be addressed.   Guest worker numbers should be limited, our borders should be secured and illegal immigration should be stopped, and we should reduce our numbers of legal immigration to that which was in place before the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.

If we fail to reject the the mantra of multiculturalism, we are condemning our nation to the same fate most European nations are suffering with now. The United States will lose its distinct culture and our inherently American ideology of self reliance, inalienable rights, and freedoms.

Super Bowl and the Star Spangled Banner

Once again I have sat and watched another singer try to put their own touch on the Star Spangled Banner and once again I had to suffered through the torturous rendition of the song.  There are many things about the playing of  the Star Spangled Banner before sporting events that truly bothers me.  First and foremost it is the utter disrespect that is shown for the song and secondly that the song is never sung in its entirety.  Which in tonight's case, I guess that was a blessing.

Debt, Socialism, and its ramifications

The United States is in the throes of a financial crisis that has the ability to destroy our great country.  We are suffering this fate because Congress has not and will not live within its means.  Our current situation is dire to say the least of it.  We are on the precipice of whether we will continue to be the leader of western civilization or will we become much like the Roman Empire ... to be nothing more than a chapter in the history books.

Our march to this financial calamity was not paved with the ideas and ideals from which our country was founded.  Far from it, the road Congress took to reach this point of no return is paved with a socialist ideology.  Its our government's folly with socialistic programs and Marxist ideals that has led to the depletion of our treasury and the burdensome mounting debt that is soon to bring about what no other nation in the world could do ....the collapse of the United States.

Right now if Congress cut all discretionary spending there would be about a twenty billion dollar surplus.  Sounds good right?  Well that would mean no one in the government would get paid.  It would mean that every office, every dept, every service, absolutely everything the federal government currently does would cease.  Taxes would remain the same and all of the tax revenue but save the twenty billion dollars would go to fund the ever increasing expenditures of our entitlement programs.

Entitlements ... Congress' folly with socialistic ideas and ideology.  These are the root cause of the disease that has been slowly eating away at the foundation of our country.   Congress has taught trained the American population that there is no need for them to be responsible, plan, or even be concerned about taking care of themselves. No need to do any of that, because Uncle Sam will do it all for you. Congress has used coercion by giving shelter, food, services, and care to those who are capable of providing it for themselves in return for votes.  Our politicians understand that if they enslave a large enough group of voters through the means of entitlements, that they can assure they will remain in power.  This cycle has played out in election after election and those wanting to grasp power and those that wish to remain in power continue to up the ante of what they will give people for their vote and now the country is suffering under the weight of this debt.

We can see the ramifications throughout our society from this practice. Just in recent history people in New Orleans sat around and waited to be saved instead of being proactive in attempting to get to safety on their own.  They sat and waited while their benevolent caretaker did nothing but watch them suffer and die.  The shooting at Virginia Tech ... students sat still in classrooms as deranged gunman made his way from room to room.  When survivors were asked why didn't they attempt to escape by breaking the windows, the reply  given was, "They did not want to get in trouble."  Unbelievable!!! They sat there and awaited fate and took no action to save themselves.  These are just a couple examples of the learned traits that our government's foray into socialism has taught our people.

The socialistic experiments that our government has preformed on our society has taken an even greater toll then the insane spending.  Our nation, our government, and our people have turned there back on God.  Socialism teaches its followers to put faith in man and man's creation ...government.  This has been by far the most destructive aspect of Congress' socialistic endeavors. It has brought about the end of our moral compass and it has decimated the traditional family.

If  our country is to survive we have to deal with the root cause of our problems.  That is to say we as a nation have to deal with  the entitlement problem and if we wish to become an enlightened prosperous nation again, we need to return to God's divine grace.   If we don't, we will continue on the path of losing our precious republic and our country will morph into a Marxist totalitarian state.

Marriage, Wisdom, and Civic Duty

On October 23 of last year, I finally took one more step in making things right in my life.  On that day I married my loving wife.  Though we had been together for many years, it was not until last year that I started to understand that something was lacking in my life.  I had this nagging thought in the back of my mind that certain items in my life were incomplete.

I have always deeply loved and cared for the woman that I so happily made my wife on that wonderful day in October. She is and has always been everything I could desire in a woman and to be totally honest,  I truly did not think our relationship could have been any better than it already was.  That my friends was a huge miscalculation on my part.  Because ever since that day we stood side by side before the Lord all mighty and pledged our lives to each other, our relationship has grown in ways I could never had expected.

It was as if the prior years we were just mere seeds spread upon the earth, struggling, fighting, striving to grow in a harsh and unforgiving environment and on October 23, 2010 our dear Lord looked upon us as we said our vows and at that moment he took these two pitiful seeds and placed us into fertile soil and gave us water.  From his grace we truly have grown as one. With each passing day, I feel closer to my wife and I truly believe that she feels the same as I do. God has truly blessed me and I am forever thankful.

It is amazing when one finally follows the path the Lord has presented to you, how things that were once issues are put into perspective.  So many blessing have been bestowed on me in the past years that I often wondered "Why me?".  I don't believe in luck and I used to think that all I have accomplished in my life was my own doing.  Oh how arrogant I was, to think that the path my life has taken was due only to my choices, abilities, and hard work.

I will be 43 years old this year and with each passing year I become more introspective about my life.  It is a definite truth that with age comes wisdom and with wisdom comes responsibility. Responsibility not just in ones life, but within one community.  It is this reason I now speak out against any policy or idea that would shackle or strip away the rights of my fellow man. Because if I stand by and allow that to take place, then who would be there to stand up for me? We are all blessed with inalienable rights, but we will not keep them if we are not willing to defend them.

I keep coming back to one particular quote that sums up the reason why any and all should stand up and defend their fellow man's rights; that quote is Edmund Burke's eloquent but simple statement of  "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

The Comprehensive Plan and U.N. Agenda 21

One would not think these two go hand in hand but I am here to tell you unequivocally that they most certainly do.  Just recently my county passed a new comprehensive plan that I must say sickens me.  It is in my opinion the most outrageous power grab I have seen in a long time on the local level.  This plan removes property rights via land reclassification and the county is wasting no time in acting upon it.  Currently there is one 13 unit condo going up in the Courthouse area  Village of  Mathews and plans for another 31 unit condo to be built are moving forward.

These condos are being marketed to county leaders as housing for retirees, which in the case of the 13 unit I can say I believe it.  The contractor is installing an elevator in the building. But the 31 unit condo is to be built upon the old Twigg Motor Company building and will not have one.  So we are to believe the retirees are going to be walking up flights of stairs?  Hmm, I just don't see that happening.  Also rent is supposed to be between $1000 and $1300 a month, for that kind of money one could rent any number of homes in the county.  Then there is the problem of services for the elderly .... yes we have doctor's offices and drug stores close by, but the nearest hospital is over 15 miles away.  So would someone again try to explain to me why a retiree would choose to live on a second floor condo with no elevator and minimal health services in the near vicinity.  My personal thought on this is that these units will turn into section 8 housing and we can welcome all the issues that come with section 8 housing to our quaint Courthouse area.

Both of these developments follow our new comprehensive plan and if you live anywhere outside of the Mathews Courthouse Village you better be downloading a copy and doing some reading.  You will find out that much of Mathews County is being designated as Rural Agriculture/ Forestal.

This land use category is proposed to include much of the County that is oriented to large tract agriculture and forests. The recommended density is one dwelling unit per ten acres. These low-density development recommendations are proposed in order to maintain the rural nature of the county, preserve important agricultural areas and forests, and respect the varied constraints for development. Land uses included within this category would include agriculture, forestry, and accompanying very low-density residential uses.

Current zoning law states that residential development in these areas should be restricted to 2.5 acres or more per dwelling. This is a purposed step up in restricted land use by 400%.  Not only is this document purposing that large of increase, but consider what will happen to land tracts that are less than the required 10 acres.  These tracts of land will continue to increase in accessed value, but will be of little or no value to those that own them.  The property owners will own land that is unbuildable, not because the land will not support it. No, it will be unbuildable because a bureaucrat or some individual at a non-government organization dictated it so.  This is nothing more than a blatant subversion of individual property rights under the pretense of protecting the county.  My question to all of this is ...Whom is the county being protected from …  its property owners?

The next area designated for change in development patterns is the areas in which are referred to as Rural Residential.  This area of Mathews is extremely restricted in size and scope in relation to existing allowed uses.

Rural Residential
This land use category is proposed to include areas of the county that are still rural in character
and exhibit very low density residential uses. The recommended density is one dwelling unit per 2.5  acres. This category would provide for small tract, low intensity agriculture and residential uses with larger lots. Also, building heights should be of an appropriate scale to maintain community character.

This is the current law for the bulk of the land contained within the county's boarders, but under the new comprehensive plan the area in which 2.5 acres per dwelling is allowed has been greatly reduced.  Under the purposed changes within the plan the area is to reduced to 7% of the land contained within the county's boarders..

The Courthouse area/ Sanitary District   Village area is the part of the county designated to be the highest density of residential development.

Village
This land use category includes the historic commercial center of the County, Mathews Court House. This compact development center consists of a core of mixed residential, commercial
and community services that may include small businesses, upper story residential, live/work  units, and surrounding groupings of residential uses.
Within the village there are a variety of residential types and densities ranging from single-family homes to small groups of dwelling units (e.g., duplex, or townhouses) at a density of 4 to 8 dwelling units per acre. The village exhibits an interconnected street network and is pedestrian oriented so that residential and business uses are within an easy walking distance of one quarter mile (or five minute walk). The village area is well landscaped, exhibits pedestrian scale signage and lighting, and incorporates traffic calming measures on the streets to ensure an inviting and safe experience. Buildings should be positioned close to the street with parking on the street or in small, shared lots located to the side or rear of buildings. Rehabilitation of existing buildings for alternative purposes should be encouraged; new buildings should respect the existing architectural context and building patterns.

This purposed change if adopted will forever change our county and not for the good either.  The purposed 4 to 8 dwelling units per acre will cripple the current infrastructure of the area ( roads, power distribution,  and the county's ability to meet the needs of that size of condense population).  The Courthouse area is not capable of handling the increased traffic that will come with the possible amount of individuals that could potentially be living with in the set boundaries of the Village.  The current minimal requirements for a duplex or single family dwelling is one dwelling per 1/2 acres.  The purposed increase is 4 dwellings per acre to 8 dwellings per acre. That is a potential increase of 200% to 600% in the amount of families living within the boundaries of the Courthouse area.  Now there is no way anyone can conclude that this would be classified as a positive change to our county.  Consider what would happen to these families during a case of an ice storm and prolonged power outages.  What about nor' easters that are capable of flooding the area.  These purposed changes are not in the best interest of the people or the county.  It is though in lock step with Agenda 21 and its provisions of government control of populations.

I will not bother to go into the other purposed land classifications, because the few I have covered so far should paint a rather disturbing picture.  The comprehensive plan is designed to displace people and force high density habitation of the residents of the county.  It accomplish this by increasing purposed land sizes in which single family dwellings may be built upon, by heavily restricting and the removal of property owner rights, and forcing land owners to abandon land that will become to have a high assessed valued, but worth little to nothing due to the purposed land requirement sizes.

Now one may ask, " What does any of this have to do with the U.N.'s Agenda 21?"  and the answer to that is, "Absolutely everything!"  Agenda 21 was adopted by the United Nations in June of 1992.  But the tale of how Agenda 21 came to being takes us back to 1974.  That is when the birth of the idea that would become Sustainable Development came to the fore front after the U.N. passed the Declaration for the establishment of a "New International Economic Order" (U.N. A/RES/S-66/3201 - 1974)

This declaration put forth the idea that governments should virtually control their economies.  The Declaration was ignored by most nations, but the seeds planted of government control were to take root in future U.N. documents.

In 1976 the U.N.'s  Conference on Human Settlements which made no attempt in hiding the fact that its end objective was to remove private ownership rights from the people and give those rights to the government.  I have listed several key sections below demonstrates how the U.N. would suggest this to be accomplished.

Section 1.a, subsection c, article 5: Such a policy should be devised to facilitate population redistribution to accord with the availability of resources.
Section D,  Preamble, subsection 1: Land, because of its unique nature and the crucial role it plays in human settlements, cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market.Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice ; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes. Social justice, urban renewal and development, the provision of decent dwellings-and healthy conditions for the people can only be achieved if land is used in the interests of society as a whole.
Section D.1, subsection A: Land is one of the most valuable natural resources and it must be used rationally. Public ownership or effective control of land in the public interest is the single most important means or improving the capacity of human settlements to absorb changes and movements in population, modifying their internal structure and achieving a more equitable distribution of the benefits or development whilst assuring that environmental impacts are considered.
Section D.2, subsection C, Articles 1-5: Such control may be exercised through:
  1. Zoning and land-use planning as a basic instrument of land policy in general and or control of land-use changes in particular;
  2. Direct intervention, e.g. the creation of land reserves and land banks, purchase, compensated expropriation and/or preemption, acquisition of development rights, conditioned leasing of public and communal land, formation of public and mixed development enterprises
  3. Legal controls, e.g. compulsory registration, changes in administrative boundaries, development building and local permits, assembly and re-plotting:
  4. Fiscal controls, e.g. property taxes, tax penalties and tax incentives;
  5. A planned co-ordination between orderly urban development and the promotion and location of new developments, preserving agricultural land.

In 1987 the UN released a report by the World Commission on Environment & Development called "Our Common Future". This report was were the ground work of the New International Economic Order and the Conference on Human Settlements merge into what would be called "Sustainable Development".

The U.N. then requested the World Commission on Environment & Development to produce a plan for long term strategies for development for the year 2000 and beyond.  Five years later in 1992 Agenda 21 was revealed to the world at the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development.  Agenda 21 is a 40 chapter plan that address every aspect of life by means of governmental intervention and polices.  It should be noted that Agenda 21 has not been brought up for a vote of ratification in the United States Senate.  It was tabled after the purposed development of wild lands within the United States was shown.

The above map should be enough evidence to convince any American that Agenda 21 is a plan that is designed to radically change our country, our government, and our way of life.  Sadly though in 1993 President Bill Clinton issued Executive Order #12582 which created the President's Council on Sustainable Development on June 29, 1993. The Council's task was to translate the recommendations set forth in Agenda 21 into public policy administered by the federal government.  This Council developed a policy for the United States called "Sustainable America - A New Consensus".

It is not difficult to connect the dots and see how U.N.'s Agenda 21 is the driving force behind the ever-increasing regulations we find ourselves being burdened with.  Every Federal Government Agency is following, implementing, and expanding the policies put forth by Agenda 21.  We can stop this assault on our inalienable rights, but it will require becoming active in your local and state governments.

Thoughts and Musings

The follow was sent to me by a person that is near and dear to my heart ....
"I think it is odd and sad that we as a Americans have advanced so much in the world of technology, medical treatments, medications, communications; yet, we have regressed in our political truths and in our educational processes."

I must say I totally agree with the assessment of today's political climate put forth by the author of the above statement and it sparked me into wondering  ...Why has this happened?

I found after much thought and research, that the regression of which the author spoke is the direct result of a departure from the principles on which our country was founded.  It is the intrusive grasp of the central government into the personal lives of the citizens that has caused the dramatic divide along ideological ideals that we see today. The government's constant meddling in the personal affairs of its people has introduced a strife between the masses to which has been allowed to manifest itself into an almost unbreachable chasm.  Our country was a far better place when people understood what Thomas Paine meant when he wrote, "That government is best, governs least."
I hope and pray that we may regain that notion once again

The Oil Spill in the Gulf

The turn of events that has allowed oil to wash up on the shores of our country has left me sadden, angry, and in disbelief.  How this has been handled is completely mind numbing to me.  Some of the action that BP has taken concerning the containment of the spreading oil slick has left me dumbfounded.

BP has been spraying "dispersants" on to the ever growing oil slick for close to a month now and has used an estimated 655,000 barrels so far.  This amazes me for several reasons .... but let explain a few things to you the readers of my blog.  First, I work in the oil industry and I am very reluctant to criticize my industry.  I have worked for a sub-contractor to BP, Chevron, Sunoco, and a host of other oil companies.  I am regulated by the USGC and the EPA and it absolutely blows my mind that BP is allowed to use dispersants on this oil spill.

I am not allowed to use dispersants and in fact if I were to use them I could very well find myself in jail.  You see, it is against the law to use a dispersant on an oil spill on any body of water.  Now, to let you know what a dispersant is or better yet what it does .... a dispersant breaks the tension of the water and allows the oil to drop into the water column.  It is not some magical chemical that makes the oil disappear, it just allows the water to float on top of the oil.

This is utterly devastating to marine wildlife .... I can't even imagine what damage has been done to the Gulf.  It is bad enough to have the oil on top of the water, but at least there is the possibility to remove the oil.  Once it is in the water column ... there is no removing it.
